2 Wonderful old 1950s fishing & hunting resort brochures from Lake of the Woods, Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada ..First is a "Fish with US" at Sportsmans Inn Whitefish Bay ... This wonderful vintage publication features great photos of campers with fish and game, shots of the resort, etc. also includes rate card ( 9.00 per day for lodging and meals... ) Great photos of the resort onwer on cover & folks with "catches" of all sorts of variety of Northern game fish, and wildlife inside etc .....Great map, and cool note to watch for their sign along the road... Charles Fickas, owner operator... In very nice bright shape, has been stored away for years... No rips or tears or stains, etc., but a litttle normal minimal edge/ corner wear / bumps as you can see, etc.. Looks great all in all, very sharp! (front is stamped "Electric Lights 24 hours a day"...(now resorts advertise having satellite tv.... quite a change!) second is a RARE old 1950s fishing /hunting resort fold out travel brochure from Hagen's Cedar Lodge on Lake of the Woods, Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada... Great photo on cover, and descriptions of the camp facilities and drawings of game and fish inside, (even how to ship fish!) etc.... Jim Hagen lodge owner.... also includes rate listings...In very nice shape for a paper item this age, has seen relatively careful handling/ been stored away for years... No rips or tears etc, just a litttle normal minimal edge/ corner wear as you can see.. Great map on back side.. Can't imagine many of these dated/ disposable paper items from this golden era of fishing/ hunting remote resorts were saved, and especially in this very nice shape... We have other such classic resort vacation pamphlets listed, mostly from this Ont. area (Kenora as well) and from the 1957 season... looks like the original owners of this collection sought info from a great variety of fishing / hunting resorts / lodges/ remote camps on Lake of the Woods so they could pick the best... They must have decided relatively quickly, as all these publications are in super nice shape/ haven't been used/ unfolded much for the most part.... Great glimpse of a time gone by---most of these resorts don't look to exist (at least by the same name) anymore... We also are listing other great road maps of Ontario and other tourism guides from other parts of Canada from this era as well.... SEE our other auctions. any Shiny white spots are PHOTO FLASH...not mars....
